Frequently asked questions about domain protection

What is DMARC?

DMARC is a policy in your domain's DNS. It tells receiving mail servers what to do with email that claims to come from your domain but fails the check: let it through, quarantine it or reject it.

Why isn't DMARC monitoring alone enough?

With the policy "none" you only receive reports; misuse is not stopped. Only with quarantine or reject is fake email in your name actually blocked.

What is the difference between SPF and DKIM?

SPF defines which servers may send email on behalf of your domain. DKIM adds a digital signature that lets the receiver check the email really comes from you and was not changed.

What is BIMI?

With BIMI your logo appears next to your emails in supported email apps. It requires SPF, DKIM and an active DMARC policy to be in order.

Why a subscription rather than a one-off setup?

Your domain changes: new tools start sending email, suppliers change. Without continuous monitoring, gaps appear or good email suddenly gets blocked.
